What we hold about your child
In short: a nickname, a school year and the questions they've answered. No real name. No school or pictures unless you send them.
About your child
- A nickname they choose. We never ask for their real name.
- Their school year, to pitch the questions right.
- Girl or boy.
- The character they picked, from twenty-four emoji animals and creatures.
- Your postcode, if you give one — optional, and yours, not your child’s.
- The look they chose for the app.
The work they do here
- Which questions they answered and what they chose, so a missed one can come back.
- Practice papers they have sat, and the mark for each.
- Their test, subject and the difficulty they last chose.
- A random code in a cookie on each browser you sign in from, so somebody typing your email elsewhere can’t lock you out. It holds nothing about you, and is forgotten after 180 days unused.
- When something goes wrong on a screen, a technical note of it - which screen, what failed and when - kept for 90 days so we can fix it.
Only if you send it to us
- A school name, if you add one to a review. Used only for the review, and shown only if you let us show it.
- Pictures you attach when you contact us. We keep them with your message, only to answer it.
- Your email, if you ask for the free sample papers - even without an account. We use it to send the papers, and for our news only if you tick the box asking for it.
What we never hold
- Their real name — we only ever ask for a nickname.
- Photos or recordings of your child. We never ask for one.
- Your child’s name or results shown to anyone else. Papers compares a mark only with other children’s anonymous averages.
- Nothing about your child is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone else.
How long we keep it
As long as the account is open. When access ends, lessons stop but the work stays, ready if you come back. Ask us to close the account and it is all deleted.
